Sample Guide for floppy drive installation ...(SY85 pictured)

1/  Unplug the power cord and place the keyboard upside down on a couple of rolled  up towels to protect it from scratching.

2/   Using a Philips head screwdriver, remove all of the screws that secure the base plate to the keyboard.

       Lift off the base plate.

3/   Locate the floppy drive casing and remove the  mounting screws being careful not to drop them inside. If a screw is dropped inside, it must be retrieved or else the keyboard may suffer un-repairable damage when the power is switched back on!

4/  Gently lift the cradle at the back and pull backward slightly to release. Be careful not to pull the drive out too far as it is still attached to the keyboard by its flat cable.

5/  Holding the drive in one hand, remove the four (4) mounting screws that secure it to the cradle. Lift of the cradle and place in a safe place.

6/  Gently pull the flat cable from the connector being careful to remove it in a fairly even fashion. A slight “wiggling action” may help in dislodging the cable from its connector. Discard the old drive once removed.

7/      Holding the new floppy drive as in the picture, reconnect the flat cable to the new drive, ensuring that the blue strip of the flat cable faces the back of the drive. Careful attention must given when inserting this cable so as not to kink or break the cable.

8/  Holding the drive as before, attach the cradle to the drive with the four (4) screws removed earlier.

9/   Feed the now assembled drive and cradleback into the keyboard. Feed the front end in first, then lower the rear down into position.

       Re-attach the mounting screws

10/ Re-attach the base plate, and you’re finished.
